Namibia, the land of untamed beauty and fascinating landscapes stands in contrast with the growing pace of the world around us. Discover the Namib, the oldest desert in the world, unfold its spectacular distances and colours. Contained in the Namib is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sossusvlei, with some of the world’s tallest sand dunes. Spend some quality time with the pristine and diverse fauna and flora of the Kalahari, and then view the impressive Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa. Another highlight on this tour are the mysterious and wonderful rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, a testament to the ancient cultures that once lived there, and Etosha National Park, a sanctuary to some of Namibia’s most iconic animal species.

Day 1,The Elegant Guesthouse, Windhoek
Upon arrival at the Windhoek International Airport you will be welcomed by your English speaking tour guide. During the short drive to Windhoek you will receive useful information about the customs and ways of the country and get a first impression of the African landscape.
In the afternoon we take you on a tour through this charming city, which is affectionately referred to as a village by its inhabitants. A mixture of colonial villas and modern buildings of the 20th century bear witness to Windhoek’s mulitcultural flair
Day 2,Zebra Kalahari Lodge
Simply stylish and elegant, the Zebra Kalahari Lodge is the most decadent of the 3 lodges on the Intu Afrika Private Game Reserve. After a short drive through the contrasting Kalahari Desert where game languish under trees or in pans, guests are welcomed with a much-needed refreshing drink and a smile as warm as the desert sun. The gurgling fish pond and the beautiful stone and wood buildings immediately soothe one’s soul and guests are ushered into the coolness of the lounge area overlooking a rather vibrant waterhole and swimming pool whilst logistics are efficiently handled.
Day 3,Fish River Lodge
Today you drive to the Fish River Canyon, which is the largest canyon in Africa and second only to the Grand Canyon. En route you can visit the Quiver Tree Forest near Keetmanshoop. The „forest“ comprises about 250 specimens of aloes (Aloe dichotoma) that are also known as quiver trees, because the bushmen traditionally used its branches to make quivers for their arrows.
Day 4,Fish River Lodge, Fish River Canyon
Lace up your hiking boots and experience the stark beauty and stunning views during a private hike with your guide. The Fish River Canyon features a gigantic ravine that is in total about 160 km long, up to 27 km wide and in some places almost 550 metres deep. The canyon begins south of Seeheim and strechtes all the way down to Ai-Ais.
Day 5,Namib Desert Lodge, Namib
The Namib is the world’s oldest desert, and although it stretches along the entire length of Namibia’s coastline, the Namib commonly refers to the vast sea of sand from Luderitz to Swakopmund. For a big sandy desert the scenery is remarkably varied, with the giant red dunes of Sossusvlei being the most famous part. Because of how old it is the Namib is home to numerous species that don’t occur elsewhere and although no humans live in the desert an amazing array of flora and fauna manages to survive here. Famous species include the Welwitschia – a living fossil plant.
Day 6,Namib Desert Lodge, Namib
The day is at your leisure. On the farm grounds are numerous animals: Oryx antelopes, kudus, jackals and foxes, even leopards and cheetahs. There are various hiking trails, even more challenging hikes are possible on the mountainous terrain. Bizarrely shaped granite formations and vast, yellow grassy areas can be admired - and the red dunes of the Namib always shine in the background, which is an impressive sight especially at sunset.
Day 7,Hoodia Desert Lodge, Sossusvlei
Continue your journey along the Namib towards Sesriem. On the way you visit Duwisib Castle, a grand pseudo-medieval looking fortress located in the hills of the semi-arid Southern Namib region. Hansheinrich von Wolf, an officer of the German Schutztruppe and his American wife Jayta bought the farm in 1907 and commissioned the famous architect Wilhelm Sander for the construction.
Day 8,Hoodia Desert Lodge, Sossusvlei
An early departure to the highest dunes of the world at Sossusvlei allows you to witness the beautiful changing colours of the sand dunes while the sun rises. There will be ample time to explore this unique area on foot. If you feel energetic enough you can attempt to climb one of the dunes before heading into Dead Vlei. The dunes in Sossusvlei form part of the Namib Sand Sea which was recently declared a world heritage site by UNESCO.
You return to Sesriem where you can explore the 30 metre deep Sesriem Canyon on foot before heading back to the lodge.
Day 9,Organic Square Guesthouse, Swakopmund
Off to the Atlantic coast to Swakopmund. Along your way you drive through the Kuiseb Canyon where the German geologist and author of the book "sheltering desert", Dr. Henno Martin, took refuge during World War II. You then proceed through the Namib Naukluft Park, do a detour to the ancient Welwitschia mirabilis and the lunar landscape, and arrive in Swakopmund in the late afternoon.
Day 10,Organic Square Guesthouse, Swakopmund
The small coastal town is waiting to be discovered by you. Visit the museum, the aquarium or the Kristall Gallerie. In addition, Swakopmund offers an abundance of optional activities.
In the morning we recommend an excursion to Walvis Bay. Here you can participate in a three-hour boat cruise to the seal colonies at Pelican Point. During this trip, you will be accompanied by different seabirds and with luck also by dolphins, and a seal might even join you on the boat. Before returning to shore you can taste fresh Atlantic oysters, complemented by a glass of sparkling wine.
Day 11,Damara Mopane Lodge, Damaraland
On route to your next destination you pass the Brandberg Mountain, Namibia’s highest mountain with its peak standing at 2,573 metres above sea level. The lodge at the gates of Damaraland is ideally suited for excursions to Twyfelfontein (130 km), the Petrified Forest (70 km) and the Vingerklip rock pillar (50 km).
Day 12,Damara Mopane Lodge, Damaraland
Today you will visit the outstanding sights of Damaraland. Twyfelfontein has been inhabited for thousands of years by various ethnic groups that used it as a place of worship. In the corse of time, at least 2500 rock engravings and paintings have been created here. Displaying one of the largest concentrations of rock petroglyps in Africa, Tywfelfontein was approved as Namibia’s first World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007.
Day 13,Etosha Safari Camp, Etosha National Park
The Etosha National Park is waiting for you. But before that, you visit the Vingerklip in the valley of the impressive Ugab terraces. In the afternoon you will leave for Etosha National Park, and return to the camp at sunset. Etosha Safari Camp is situated only a short distance from the Andersson Gate (near Okaukuejo). The spacious bungalows are built on a small hill and are creatively designed with hand-painted floors. Meals are served in the rustic yet tastefully decorated restaurant, whose design resembles a ‘Shebeen’ (traditional bar), representing the vibrant life in a township. A large swimming pool is at guests’ disposal.
Day 14,Mushara Lodge, Etosha National Park
Enjoy a day of exiting game viewing in Etosha National Park. The appeal of the park lies its contrast of wide open grasslands mixed with woodlands of Camelthorn and Mopani trees. This diverse vegetation accounts for the abundace of wildlife that thrives in the park. The park’s main characteristic is a huge salt pan that can even been seen from space. During your drive to the eastern side of the park, you can expect to see abundant wildlife that congregates around the waterholes and on the open plains.
Day 15,Mushara Lodge, Etosha National Park
Today you explore the eastern part of the Etosha National Park in search of lions, elephants, the eland (the largest antelope), the damara dik-dik (the smallest antelope), giraffes and more. Etosha is Namibia's most famous national park and rightly one of the great highlights of the country.
If you would like to experience Etosha in a different way, Mushara Lodge offers morning and afternoon guides trips into the park in open 4x4 vehicles (optional, payable on site).
Day 16,Fiume Bush Camp, Otavi Mountain Region
In the morning you will once again experience the Etosha National Park and spend time near the waterholes. At midday you leave the park and drive to the Hoba meteorite near Grootfontein. The meteorite consists of 82% iron and weighs about 55 tons, which makes this the largest known meteorite on earth.
Day 17,Fiume Bush Camp, Otavi Mountain Region
Today you visit the Historic Living Village / XAO-O JU / HOANSI GA. This unpronouncable name with the typical Khoisan click sounds means "the life of the Ju / Hoansi San". The historic San settlement has been built next to the present day village and offers visitors an authentic insight into the traditional culture and the original way of living of the San. The Ju / Hoansi demonstrate their desert survival secrets with great dedication and invite you to sit down and interact.
Day 18,Waterberg Plateau Lodge
Continue your journey through the Otavi triangle to the Waterberg, a particularly prominent location, elevating high above the plains of the Kalahari basin. Nestled on a rock terrace high up on the slope of Waterberg, the chalets of Waterberg Plateau Lodge afford grand vistas of the endless Kalahari bush savannah below. Each of the double room chalets sits between red sandstone rocks in the midst of green bush, with total privacy guaranteed. Acacias shade the terrace; a plunge pool filled with spring water provides cooling and attracts birds and small game.
Day 19,Waterberg Plateau Lodge
The diverse landscape of the Waterberg makes a longer stay worthwile. In 1972 the Waterberg Plateau Park was created to provide refuge for several of Namibia's rare and endangered species. The many springs around the Waterberg support a wide diversity of flora and fauna with over 200 different bird species. Evidence of early human occupancy are the rock engravings that were found in this area. However, the true beauty of the Waterberg is revealed only to the hiker. The Mountain View Trail leads to the edge of the Waterberg.
Day 20,The Elegant Farmstead, Central Namibia
Today you arrive at the last stop of your trip. The Elegant Farmstead is located southeast of Okahandja in the heart of the Namibian farmland. The Elegant Farmstead offers accommodation in 11 tastefully furnished rooms with en-suite bathrooms. This unique combination of old and new is tucked away in a beautiful garden with lush plants and trees. Just beyond stretches the vast African bush with an abundance of wildlife.
Day 21,Departure
After a relaxed breakfast you drive to Windhoek International Airport. Your guide bids you farewell and you start your homeward journey. With us you are in good hands: your trip is accompanied by one of our multi-skilled tour guides. This allows you to relax during the trip and to see Namibia though the insider’s glasses.
