Day 1,Olive Grove Guesthouse, Windhoek
Arrival at the Windhoek International Airport where you will be met by your English speaking tour guide. During the short trip to Windhoek you will receive useful information about the customs and ways of the country and get a first impression of the African landscape.
Day 2,Okonjima Luxury Bush Camp
Today you travel north to Okonjima, situated within a private nature reserve just south of Otjiwarongo. What started off as a sanctuary for cheetahs and leopards that have been rescued from irate livestock farmers has since become a professionally run institution committed to the protection and long-term conservation of Namibia’s large predators.
Day 3,Onguma Tented Camp, Onguma Game Reserve
The Etosha National Park is waiting for you. In the afternoon you explore the eastern part of the park, searching for lions, elephants, the eland (the largest antelope), the damara dik-dik (the smallest antelope), giraffes and more.
Day 4,Onguma Tented Camp, Onguma Game Reserve
You can look forward to a day of exciting game viewing. Etosha is Namibia's most famous national park and one of the highlights of the country. The Etosha Pan and the area that would later become the Etosha National Park was first discovered by the European explorers Charles Andersson and Sir Francis Galton in 1851. Today the park covers an area of 22 270 km2. The appeal of the Etosha National Park lies its contrast of wide open grasslands mixed with woodlands of Camelthorn and Mopani trees. This diverse vegetation accounts for the abundance of wildlife that thrives in the park.
Day 5,Wildacker Guestfarm, Northern Namibia
Today you embark on a journey into the past. An early start takes you into the northern Kalahari to the Historic Living Village / XAO-O JU / Hoansi GA. This unpronouncable name with the typical Khoisan click sounds means "the life of the Ju / Hoansi San". The historic San settlement has been built next to the present day village and offers visitors an authentic insight into the traditional culture and the original way of living of the San. The Ju / Hoansi demonstrate their desert survival secrets with great dedication and invite you to sit down and interact. After this cultural exchange you proceed to your destination for tonight.
Day 6,River Dance Lodge, Kavango
Continue your journey to the Kavango Region. En route you pass a veterinary check point, the so-called "red line" which separates the commercial farmlands from the communal lands of the Kavango. Here the picture changes abruptly: suddenly you can see tall trees, the traditional huts and villages are built right next to the road, free-roaming cattle and goats pose a danger to traffic and along the road side souvenirs and piles of firewood are for sale.
Day 7,River Dance Lodge, Okavango River
Time for an excursion to Popa Falls and to the small Mahango Game Park, a protected area within the Bwabwata National Park. It is situated at the country's eastern border with Botswana in the flood plains of the Okavango River basin. This small game park has a very rich diversity of mammal species including elephants and buffaloes, the rare sable antelope and lechwes.
Day 8,Nambwa Tented Lodge, Kwando River
Meandering through the spectacular Caprivi Strip in northwest Namibia, the Kwando River rises from the central Angolan highlands forming the boundary between Namibia, Zambia and Angola. The area surrounding the Kwando River is known for its protected game reserves, national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. It offers excellent game viewing with the perennial waters of the river attracting plentiful wildlife including large herds of elephant, hippos, crocodiles, red lechwe, zebra, impala, spotted-necked otters and over 400 species of bird. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing stay at one of the many lodges set on the banks of the river and soak up the spectacular views of wild Africa.
Day 9,Nambwa Tented Lodge, Zambezi Region
Enjoy your stay at Nambwa Tented Lodge. Whether you explore the park on water or on land – every excursion will offer a very different picture with new experiences. In between relax on the sun deck or in the cozy lounge, or enjoy the unique Eastern Caprivi atmosphere from the privacy of your tree house deck.
Day 10,Chobe Bush Lodge, Chobe River Front
The Chobe National Park in Botswana, widely known for its spectacular elephant population, is waiting to impress you. This section of the park is best known for its elephant and hippo populations but the waters attract all manner of game including large herds of buffalo and the lions that prey on them.
Day 11,Chobe Bush Lodge, Chobe River Front
Today you explore the Chobe National Park. In the morning you go on a game drive in an open 4x4 safari vehicle. This is the best time to see most antelopes, predators and the rich birdlife. After a comfortable siesta you enjoy a boat cruise on the Chobe River. Hippos and crocodiles are fairly easy to track in the open river landscape. In the late afternoon many antelopes come down to the river to quench their thirst and the elephants come to take a bath. Even from the boat a variety of large and small birds can be observed - especially the african fish eagle with its distinctive cry.
Day 12,Ilala Lodge, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Off to the next country. In the late afternoon you visit the magnificent Victoria Waterfalls to view them in the best light for photography. Perhaps the spray is large enough to form rainbow?
Day 13,Ilala Lodge, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Today offers a variety of optional activities in Victoria Falls to choose from, for example a scenic helicopter flight over the falls, a sunset river cruise on the Ra-Ikane cruiser or white water rafting on the Zambezi, an exciting ride on an elephant or even a walk with lions. For adrenalin addicts there is bungee jumping or a "Bridge-Swing". A visit to a museum or traditional village is something for history and culture enthusiasts. Your guide will help you choose the right one and assist with the booking.
Day 14,Departure
After a leisurely breakfast your guide will bring you to the Victoria Falls Airport for departure to Windhoek with connecting flight home. Self-drive version: After breakfast transfer to the Victoria Falls Airport.
